44 Senior DCI officers moved in latest reshuffle

In a bid to beef up security during the 2022 general election, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has reshuffled 44 senior officers at the agency.

Reportedly, some officers retired from the workforce thereby instigating the reshuffle.

DCI boss Joseph Mugwanja has been replaced by Nairobi DCI chief Bernard Nyakwaka who will serve at the Airport Unit while Mugwanja was recalled back to the headquarters.

Kitale DCI Chief  Paul Wachira has replaced Nyakwaka.

Moving forward, the anti-terror police unit head will serve as investigations boss at the DCI headquarters. John Kariuki, who retired after 33 years of service, was the head of the investigations desk.

Bernard Gicheru was promoted to serve as the DCI Director of Operations, a position that was held by retired officer Henry Ondieki, while Laikipia DCI chief Francis Wanjau was transferred to the Kisumu office.

Carrey Nyawinda, who was previously the DCI Deputy Head of Investigations, has been promoted to serve as head of the Banking Fraud Unit.

Abdallah Komesha, who was at the Banking Fraud Unit, has been moved to the regional counter-terrorism centre of excellence.

The police service has an even wider reshuffle exercise such as in the administrative unit to enhance the delivery of service.

The new DCIO for Gigiri in Nairobi is Peter Kiboro while Fatuma Hadi, who was serving at the helm of the Kilimani Unit, will serve in the Mazingira complex.

David Chebii who was leading anti-counterfeit unit in Parkland, will serve as the new head of the call centre.

Jackson Owino of Kasarani has been redeployed to Garissa as the head of personnel.
