Select Panel shortlists 36 applicants for IEBC commissioner positions

The Selection Panel for the appointement of the  Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission , commissioners has picked 36 candidates to compete for the four commissioner positions that were previously advertised.


The 36 out of the 660 applicants will undertake a psychometric test that tests both the cognitive ability and mental agility on Wednesday, June 30 at the Kenyatta International Convention Center ( KICC).

"All shortlisted applicants are required to undertake a psychometric test on Wednesday, 30th June, 2021 at 11.00 am at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi. Oral interviews, incorporating a case study shall be conducted between July 7 and 22 at the KICC,” read the statement.

Adding that: “The shortlisted applicants for the psychometric test are required to bring with them their original national identity card or passport while for the oral interviews, shortlisted applicants are required to bring with them their original national identity card or passport and the originals of their testimonials and/or certificates.”


Among notable person shortlisted include; Former Vice-Chair of the Judges and Magistrates vetting board Roseline Odede, Murshid Abdalla( former IIEC commissioner) Koki Muli( Kenya's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN) Kagwiria Mbogori ( Former Chair of the KNHRC) Sellestine Kiluku ( former SRC commissioner) Dr Rose Mumbua ( NLC commissioner ) and Kenya's ambassador to Zimbabwe Lucy Jebet Chelimo.


Oral interviews for the shortlisted candidates will run between July 7th to July 22 this year.


Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide clearànce from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loan Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission(EACC).


The four vacancies fell vacant following the resignation of Commissioners Cornie Nkatha, Paul Kurgat, Margaret Mwachanya and Roselyn Akombe.
