President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally gazetted the appointment of judges who were recommended by the Judicial Service Commission more than two years ago.
The Head of State appointed 34 out of the 41 who were nominated by the JSC.
In Gazette notice dated Thursday, June 3, President Uhuru appointed judges Msagha Mbogholi, Omondi Hellen Amollo, Ngugi Grace Mumbi, Francis Tuiyott, Nyamweya Pauline Nyaboke, Lesiit Jessie and Kibaya Imaana Laibuta to the Court of Appeal.
"In excercise of the powers conferred by Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Baari Christine Noontatu, Gakeri Jacob Kariuki and Keli Jemima Wanz to the Employment and Labour relations court," the notice read in part.
The President also appointed justices Mwaure Ann Ngibuini, Matanga Bernard Odongo Manani, Rutto Stella Chemtai, Kebira Ocharo,
Kitiku Agnes Mueni-Nzei and Nderitu David Njagi to the Labour relations court.
Other judges appointed include Mboya Oguttu Joseph, Naikuni Lucas Leperes,
Mwanyale Michael Ngolo, Addraya Edda Dena, Kimani Lilian Gathoni, Kamau Joseph Mugo,
Wabwoto Karoph Edward and Koross Anne Yatich Kipingor to be Judges of the Environment and Land Court.
Justices Gicheru Maxwell Nduiga, Mogeni Ann Jacqueline Akhalemesi, Ongarora Fred Nyagaka, Christopher Kyania Nzili, Mugo David Mwangi, Omollo Lynette Achieng’, Washe Emmanuel Mutwana, Nyukuri Annet,
Murigi Theresa Wairimu, Asati Esther were also appointed to the Environment and Land Court.
Notably the nominations of six judges were rejected among those whose nomination was rejected include Justices George Odunga, Weldon Korir , Prof Joel Ngugi and Aggrey Muchelule.
Other candidates whose nomination were rejected include, Makori Evans and Judith Cheruiyot.
The names of the candidates whose nominations were rejected have been forwarded back to the JSC.
