Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has given birth to a baby girl, the second child for her and Prince Harry, the couple announced on Sunday.
The baby whose name is Lilibet pay tribute to Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II after a year of estranged relationship between the couple and the British Royal family
The baby was born on Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” the statement said. “Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
The couple added a thank you to all their supporters, saying that Lili "is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe."
Harry and Meghan Markle have a son Archie who recently turned two.
The couple announced Meghan was pregnant with Lilli in February months after the Duchess revealed she had suffered a miscarriage in July 2020.
Lilli is expected to be eighth in line to the throne, following her older brother in the line of succession.
