Covid-19: Kenya records 148 new cases and positivity rate at 6.8%

Kenya has recorded 148 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 2,163 tested, bringing the cumulative cases to 172,639 while the current positivity rate stands at 6.8 per cent. 

Total recoveries stand at 118,226 as 631 patients have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. 

From the new recoveries, 496 from the Home Based and Isolation Care program while 135 are from various health facilities countrywide.

According to the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours 21 people have been reported to have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 3,308.

Currently, 1,147 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,802 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program.

From the 102 patients reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 26 are on ventilatory support, 60 on supplemental oxygen and 16 patients are under observation.

The Ministry of Health added, “Another 95 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 88 of them in general wards and 7 in High Dependency Units (HDU).”

So far, a total of 975,835 persons have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide. A total of 13,194 have been vaccinated their second dose.
