Limuru MP Mwathi elected unopposed to Chair Security Committee

Limuru Member of Parliament Peter Mwathi has been elected the Chair of the powerful National Security and Administration Committee replacing the late Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange.

Mwathi was elected unopposed following interventions from both Jubilee Party and Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM)

Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi had expressed intentions of contesting for the post but failed to return her nomination papers.

"The fact that the former Prime Minister told me his preferred candidate for this position is Mwathi and that he has communicated to the President, and with the respect I have for Raila, I had to drop my bid” Gedi told the committee members

Prior to his election to the powerful house committee, Mr Mwathi served as the Chair of the National Assembly's Labour and Social Services Committee.

Addressing the committee shortly after his win, he thanked the members for electing him further calling on them to accord him support.

" Koinange has left some big shoes and I can only try and fit in them and that with your assistance and support we will be able to achieve our agenda." He said.
