A magistrate court has cancelled the bail of former rugby player Alex Olaba, ordering that he be detained until a gang rape case against him is heard and determined.
In its ruling on Monday, the court said interference with witnesses is a serious offence.
Olaba was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder but pleaded not guilty last week
Olaba was arrested on April 23rd by detectives over an alleged plot to eliminate a key witness in a rape case he is facing alongside compatriot Frank Wanyama.
According to the police , Olaba was arrested as he approached undercover detectives who posed as assassins to allegedly plot the murder.
Olaba and Wanyama had been released by the High Court after it quashed their 15-year sentence pending re-trial.
The two are alleged to have committed the rape offence on February 11, 2018, at an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.
