Kenya has recorded 1,091 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 5,958 tested in the last 24 hours pushing the total number of cases confirmed in the country to 149,219 and a positivity rate of 18.3%.
According to the Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman, the cumulative fatalities now stand at 2,424 as four deaths had been reported in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries stands at 100,637 as in the last 24 hours 392 patients recovered from the disease. 257 of the new recoveries are from Home Based and Isolation Care while 135 are from various health facilities.
The Ministry of Health also stated that a total of 1,603 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,757 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
From the current 261 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 44 are on ventilatory support and 167 on supplemental oxygen. 50 patients are on observation.
The Ministry added, “Another 264 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 250 of them in general wards and 14 in High Dependency Units (HDU).”
On the other hand, a total of 616,166 people hqve been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine so far.
“From this number, 132,537 are Health Workers, 49,859 Security Officers, 92,246 Teachers and 341,524 are other members of the public who include those at 58 years and above,” the Ministry elaborated.
