KDF officers involved in road crash airlifted to Nairobi

Nine KDF soldiers involved in a road crash near Bonyunyu area along Nyamira-Miruka road on Saturday morning have been airlifted to Nairobi.

Nyamira county commissioner Amos Mariba confirmed the incident, saying the nine service personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces were from a funeral in the county.

According to Mariba, the personnel were in a bus
headed back to Nairobi when the accident occurred.

He added that the the KDF bus driver Daniel Munyi from the DOD headquarters lost control after the brakes failed and the bus hit a pavement, rolling off the road.

The three KDF soldiers and three servicemen sustained serious head injuries and leg fractures while three civilians who were riding in the same bus sustained minor injuries.

The officers received treatment at the Nyamira County Refferal Hospital and were later airlifted by a KDF helicopter to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
