Stakeholders urge government to employ new way of fighting cancer

The head of research at the National Museums of Kenya and Likuyani constituency MP aspirant, Evance Taracha has urged the government to set up more research centres as a way of fighting cancer.

He said “We need more research centres. We need more professionals to be employed as a way of fighting the disease.” 

Taracha who was speaking at the burial of nominated Senator Daisy Nyogesa's father Gerishon Nyongesa in Binyeya called on Kenyans to avoid excessive consumption of processed foods.


Politician Nabii Nabwire was also in attendace urged Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to provide equipment to the county referral hospital to help in cancer screening and treatment.

“Mr Oparanya, I urge you to provide equipment needed in our hospitals so that we can get good services. Residents need to be diagnosed and be treated before the disease comes gets of hand,” he said.

 Mzee Nyongesa was eulogized as a firm leader and dependable elder



 The nominated lawmaker revealed that he My succumed to cancer .

"My father fought a tough battle. We had hopes that he will be well but God had his way.” 

The family is urging people of goodwill to help them as they are yet to clear the hospital bill of Sh2.2 million.
