A man who impersonated a KDF officer at the Lang’ata Barracks has pleaded guilty to the charges, telling the court that he did so because he was in dire need of a military job.
Daniel Prince Maina told the court that he had tried to get the KDF job several times but his efforts were futile.
He pleaded guilty on Friday before Kibera senior resident magistrate Renee Kitagwa.
According to the charge sheet, Maina committed the offence of impersonating Lieutenant Daniel Maina on February 17 at Lang’ata Barracks gate in Lang’ata sub-county, Nairobi county.
The accused wanted to gain entry into the barracks.
Prosecutor Robert Ogallo said the military officers at the barracks became suspicious of the suspect after presenting himself as the officer. They discovered that the credentials belonged to another officer after investigations.
Maina was therefore arrested and arraigned after the officers reported the matter to Lang’ata police station.
Magistrate Kitagwa directed that the matter be mentioned on Monday for further directions.
