North Rift clerics ban politics, fundraising in churches

The National Council of Churches of Kenya, North Rift region has banned politics and fundraising activities in churches.

This follows a consultative meeting held in Eldoret on Saturday where clerics resolved that politicians shouldn't be allowed to address faithful in churches unless its a special spiritual message to the congregants

Addressing the press, the clergy accused some politicians of using church podiums to verbally attack their fellow politicians.

"We are very much concerned about the insecurity of the country and from what we have witnessed a few months ago from our leaders, we want to make it clear that we don’t want politics in our churches,” said Rev Nicholas Kosgei of ACK Eldoret

" If some politicians think they will use the church to market themselves, then we are sorry you  sorry take your money elsewhere, we don't want corruption." he added.

The meeting was graced by several church leaders from six counties within the North Rift region

According to the clerics, the ban will run until further notice.
