Liverpool's Henderson sidelined until April following surgery

Liverpool stated on Friday that their captain Jordan Henderson will not be on the pitch for at least five weeks following groin surgery he recently underwent due to an injury. 

Henderson sustained the injury during Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Everton.

In a statement, Liverpool said, "Henderson has successfully had a corrective procedure carried out on the adductor injury. He will begin a rehabilitation programme immediately."

"No specific timescale is being placed upon his return; however, he is ruled out initially until after the March international break," the statement detailed further. 

The 30-year-old England international will miss Premier League games against Sheffield United, Chelsea, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as the Champions League last-16 second leg against Leipzig.

In in the league standings, Liverpool are sixth with 40 points from 25 games, five points lower than West Ham United who are in fourth place.
