Former Mbale RFC chairman lands new role at KRU

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has appointed former Mbale Rugby Football Club chairman Matayo Mwenesi as the regional development officer RDO for the western region. 

Mwenesi served as a chairman for over five years and has been in charge of the western Blackrock tournament.

According to him, the club is in a better state than he found it as he is confident that he has done his best to contribute to its growth and success. 

He said that he has always looked forward to becoming a development officer and the new role is a dream come true. 

“I have been a chairman for over five years as well as being on the top-notch in organizing the Western Blackrock tournament, I am happy to land this new job , development has always been in my heart and this is a dream come true, my success at Mbale RFC is an indication of my determination in improving Rugby from the interior part of western,” Mwenesi said.

The former Mbale RFC chairman said that fishing out rugby talents for both girls and boys from the primary school level is his biggest duty 
According to the world rugby union program called Get Into Rugby.

Mwenesi said, “As an RDO there is a program from world rugby union called Get into rugby that is made to introduce primary school kids to this amazing game, we shall have to walk around our schools introducing the game as well as fish out talent.” 

He said that their obligation is to develop the game under Developments pathways catering for those aged between 10 years and 15 years and developing them to get into a club and then get to the national team.
