Jones goal sends Liverpool into the Knock-outs

Liverpool have secured a place in the knockout stage of the Champions League for a fourth successive season after a 1-0 win over Ajax.

Curtis Jones scored his first Champions League goal after a horrific goalkeeping mistake as Liverpool beat Ajax to win Group D and secure a place in the last 16.

Neco Williams' cross found the 19-year-old midfielder who took advantage to score with the outside of his right foot beating Andre Onana.

Jones also rattled a post before his goal ensured Liverpool, with one game to spare, joined Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea in the knockout stage.

Jurgen Klopp's side overcame their latest worrying injury setback to progress after an open and entertaining game at Anfield.

Liverpool lead Atalanta who beat them at home last week by four points with Ajax closing in on the Italians.
