Giroud hits four for Chelsea as United lose to PSG

Chelsea beat Sevilla 4-0 away in Spain courtesy of Olivier Giroud's four goals putting him in the history books of the European championship.

Giroud (Arsenal, Chelsea) is the second player to score a Champions League hat-trick for multiple English sides after Michael Owen (Liverpool, Manchester United).

Olivier Giroud is the third player to score a perfect hat-trick (left-foot, right-foot and header) for an English side in the Champions League after Alvaro Negredo and Harry Kane.

He is the second player from France to score four goals in a single Champions League match after Bafetimbi Gomis for Lyon on 7 December 2011 (7-1 win at Dinamo Zagreb).

Neymar's first Champions League double since a hat-trick against Red Star Belgrade on 3 October 2018 led PSG to a 3-1 thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The loss puts United's hopes of the knock-out stages in limbo. They now need a point next week at RB Leipzig to secure a spot in the round of 16.
