'Sincerely Daisy,' a Kenyan film directed by Nick Mutuma, Premiered on Netflix Friday, 9th October. The latest local production graces the screens for one and a half hours.
The film is about a young girl, Daisy, who experiences life's twists and turns after developing great expectations on life following her astounding academic performance her final year of high school.
Daisy, played by the talented Ella Maina, is an aspiring actress with a a scholarship in China and she believes everything works for her favor until her dreams are shattered because of relationship problems and money issues.
After she experience the downward spiral, she experiences growth and learns how to cope with life's surprises.
The family-friendly and inspiring film has a cast of 10 actors. Among them are Jackie Matubia, famously known as Jolene on Tahidi High, Mbeki Mwalimu, who stars in Selina, Sam Psenjen, who has played a role on Sue na Johnnie, and Muthoni Gathecha, who has starred in Kona and Pray & Prey.
TV presenter and Youtube sensation, Foi Wambui, and Brian Abajah who has participated in several short films, such as Men-saturation are also cast members.
Other actors are Faiz Ouma, and James Webbo, famous in theatrical plays, and Serah Wanjiru, who made her debut in the film.
Natasha Likimani wrote the film. She is also the writer of popular productions such as Veve, Mali and You Again.
The director, Nick Mutuma, took to Instagram to share the good news about the premiere on Netflix.
He wrote, “Kenya is late to the party, but we are finally on @Netflix premiering this Friday, 9th October. Thank you @startimeskenya for being the driving force behind this film, as well as the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring it to life. Proud of the fact that we’re exporting Swahili and telling our stories on a global platform. 70% of the dialogue in the film is Swahili. We did it guys! Kenya/Africa to the world! @shotbygiraffe,” Mutuma wrote on Instagram.
Mr. Mutuma thanked everyone who was part of the production.
