What would you do if you added another zero to your worth at this point in time when the world is struggling with a pandemic? I bet you will be the happiest. Now here's Christiano Ronaldo, he just earned $105 million before taxes this year.
Juventus talisman Christiano Ronaldo became the first soccer billion dollar earner! This is according to the recent Forbes update. This adds to many of Christiano's self earned accolades across the football world. He is now number 4 on Forbes' 2020 Celebrity 100. What a time to be among the world's richest athletes.
The question of how he made it to the coveted list comes up. The amount comes as the fans favorite has endorsements from Nike which pays him upwards of $20 million annually and signed him to a lifetime deal in 2016, he owns Ronaldo Inc a lifestyle brand that Forbes estimates accounts for about a quarter of his annual earnings. Apart from Ronaldo Inc, he also has ventures in branded underwears, fragrances, denim wear and a line of shoes.
The four time Ballon D'Or winner, same number as Messi's, earned $60 million this year after agreeing to a 30% paycut as a result of the pandemic. Ronaldo is now above his lifetime rival Lionel Messi who earned $104 million after 70% paycut although he is poised to surpass him in the next year after his Barcelona contract. Messi fans must be having a hard time coming into terms with the Forbes news but thats only what they can do, hope for the best next year.
