Speaking during the official launch of the Nairobi expressway ,President Kenyatta told Ruto to stop dragging his name into their campaign trails and instead focus on selling his agenda.
"Campaign for yourself and leave me alone. I am doing my job, I finish and go, go and ask for votes, if Kenyans vote for you it is okay, if they don't we go home together where is the problem. The world will still go on."
He also told off his deputy over his criticism over his decision to support Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga, saying that he has the right to choose who he supports for presidency.
"Everyone, including myself, has the freedom of drumming up for the people they want. But the people of Kenyans have the final say there is no need for sending threats," said President Uhuru.
The Head of State called on leaders to champion for peace in the run-up to the August 9th General Election.
"Let us be calm, let us do the right thing and let us tell Kenyans what we shall do for them."
