Governor Ngilu drops re-election bid

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has dropped  her re-election bid in favor of her opponent and Wiper Democratic Party candidate Julius Malombe.

The Narc Party leader withdrawal from the race was confirmed on Wednesday during  Azimio La Umoja coalition campaigned in Kitui.

According to the Azimio La Umoja flag-bearer Raila Odinga,  Ngilu will have other roles in the government they form if they  win the August polls.

Among those eyeing the seat include Malombe, Former Kitui Senator David Musila and former Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke who is seeking the Kitui governorship on a United Democratic Alliance ticket.

Malombe who is seen as a front runner in the contest is however facing an uphill task from former Kenya's High Commisisoner to Uganda Kiama Kilonzo who is challenging his nomination as Wiper flag bearer for the seat.

The IEBC dispute and resolution committee is set to make it's ruling on the case .
