Muthiora, who was the last Independent candidate to appear before the commission for vetting had earlier been given time to submit more signatures but failed to beat the deadline.
Muthiora who had arrived at the Bomas of Kenya jogging expressing optimism of his candidature while reacting to the turn of events protested the decisions to lock him out ,saying it denied Kenyans an opportunity to vote for a different voice.
“I may be young but I have my stake, this voters card should be my voice and I know there are those that believed they needed a different choice from the selection that has been made maybe this is not the only way, maybe there is another way,” Muthiora said before asking for a lighter and setting the voters card ablaze.
While burning his voters card, the second-time presidential aspirant recalled how hard it was for him to get the ID copies and signatures that he submitted to IEBC on Monday.
“We chose not to take the short cut, we went the long way but we fell short,” added an emotional Muthiora Kariara.
