KANU chairman Gideon Moi will not appear before the Azimio Coalition party panel of eminent persons that has been tasked with selecting a suitable running mate for ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Confirming Senator Moi's absence,KANU's Secretary for Political Affairs Fredrick Okango said the second-term Senator has ceded his nomination in favour of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Moi was set to appear before the panel of on Monday at 3 pm.
"Our national chairman was for some reason shortlisted to appear before the panel of eminent persons. We have received instructions from our national chairman that he will not be appearing," Okango told journalists at Serena, the venue of the vetting.
"While he is suitable, capable to be the running mate of Raila Amolo Odinga but on this one, he is not going to appear having endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka."
