Wa Iria who is serving his second and final term as Murang’a Governor made the announcement just two days before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline set for May 16, 2022.
“This morning on behalf of my USAWA Party, I have nominated Hon. Alfayo Onyambu to be my running mate for the August 9, General Election to back up my presidential bid. Hon. Onyambu, a politician who hails from Kisii County will be on my joint presidential ticket,” said the Murang’a County boss on his official twitter handle.
“At Usawa party we are fighting for a better, fairer and brighter future for every Kenyan rolling up our sleeves empowering grassroot voters, and organizing everywhere to build a winning team.”
Mr. Onyambu in 2017 unsuccessfully contested for senatorial seat in Kisii under a Jubilee ticket, but lost out to ODM's Prof. Sam Ongeri.
