Raphael Tuju appointed Azimio La Umoja executive director

Former Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has been appointed Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Party executive director.

In a statement on Wednesday, Raila Odinga's Presidential Campaign Communication Director Dennis Onsarigo, said Tuju appointment takes effect immediately, with his role being  coordination of member parties and as the head strategy and program functions in Mr Odinga's presidential secretariat.

 “He will lead the strategic and program teams that will work to ensure Azimio victory in the August elections,” Mr Onsarigo.

Azimio la Umoja will be banking on Tuju's  vast experience in politics and governance, having served as Member of Parliament, a Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Party Secretary General.

The Raila Odinga- led Azimio la Umoja brings together more than 20 political parties including the ruling Jubilee led by President Uhuru Kenyatta,ODM and the Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper.

“…the over 20 political parties have diverse regional strengths, opinions and a myriad of leadership that represent the face of Kenya,” the statement reads in part.

Mr Tuju resigned as Jubilee Secretary General and Cabinet Secretary without portfolio to venture into active politics.

He was replaced by Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni.
