Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to defend seat on Jubilee ticket

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has ditched his Ubuntu People Forum(UPF) Party and will now defend his Nakuru Governor seat on a Jubilee party ticket.

Confirming the development on Friday, Mr Kinyanjui said the move is to consolidate the Azimio La Umoja support base ahead of the August 9, polls.

“To consolidate Azimio Coalition support base and lead the campaign team in the region, a decision has arrived that I defend my Governor seat on Jubilee Party ticket. I, therefore, wish to state that I will defend my seat as Nakuru Governor on the Jubilee ticket,” Kinyanjui said.

He attributed his decision to consultations he made with the top leadership and members of the UPF party.

“In the meantime, UPF party will field and support its candidate in respective positions in line with its mandate,” Kinyanjui said.

Governor Kinyanjui said they will now approach the August 9th,polls as Azimio la Umoja team.

He said the coalition will be fielding one  candidate per seat to ensure that their votes are not split.

“We shall be unveiling the candidates under Azimio after the nominations and will strive to have only one candidate for each seat from MP to Governor,” Kinyanjui said.

“We are aware this decision is inconvenient for some of our supporters and opponents. Kindly accept our sincere apology.”
