KNCCI boss Richard Ngatia launches Nairobi gubernatorial bid

Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Richard Ngatia has officially launched his bid for the Nairobi governor's seat.

Ngatia who is vying on Jubilee Party will however first face off with incumbent Anne Kananu, businesswoman Agnes Kagure and Equity Bank Chief Financial Officer Polycarp Igathe for the party ticket in the nominations .

Speaking on Sunday during the official launch of his bid in Kangemi, Ngatia promised to use his influence in the business world to transform the country’s capital and address youth unemployment.

“Nyinyi vijana kila ward tutawapea machine kumi kutegeneza cabro na sisi kama county tutazinua tujenge mabarabara nazo,” he said.

Ngatia was flanked by former KMTC boss  Philip Kaloki who is poised to be his running mate.

Kaloki who previously served as Kibwezi West MP dropped his gubernatorial bid for Makueni county and announced he will be vying for a seat in the City.

His presence at the rally and pronouncement that Wiper Party will throw it's weight behind Ngatia's candidature comes just days after the Kalonzo Musyoka led party recalled a direct certificate it's had issued to Ben Mulwa citing that he didn't meet the set requirement.

It's not clear if Jubilee Party will seek consensus on the seat with other partners in the Azimio La Umoja with ODM having fielded Tim Wanyonyi for the post.
