The Kenya Kwanza Alliance is said to have settled on Johnson Sakaja as it's candidate for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat this follows a consensus meeting at Deputy President William Ruto's official residence in Karen, Nairobi on Saturday afternoon.
Sakaja was set to face off Bishop Margaret Wanjiru for the party ticket who has in turn dropped her bid and will now run for the senatorial seat.
The development comes hours after DP signed a coalition agreement with National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi's Democratic Party.
The duo become the latest politicians to willingly cede ground in favour of their challengers, on Friday Kiambu County speaker Stephen Ndichu dropped his bid for the senate seat in favour of media personality Karungo wa Thang'wa .
