Samuel Maina appointed KBC MD as Dr Bilal exits

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation(KBC) board has appointed Samuel Maina as the acting Managing Director as Dr. Naim Bilal's term expires.

In a memo,KBC Board Chairman Benjamin Maingi said Maina's appointment was to ensure continuity and smooth running of activities at the cooperation.

"All staff members are hereby required to give the acting Managing Director full support and cooperation for efficient and effective delivery of services," Maingi said.

Maina's appointment takes effect immediately. 

According to the memo,the appointment followed a special meeting by the Board of Directors on Friday, March 25, 2022.

Maina will hold the position in an interim basis until a substantive MD is appointed through a competitive process.

"The Board takes this opportunity to thank Dr Naim Bilal for his services at the cooperation. 

"On behalf of the Board, join me in welcoming the acting Managing Director Samuel Maina for the appointment as we wish him the very best in his new role," Maingi said. 

Prior to his appointment, Maina was the cooperation's Editor in Chief.

Bilal, a veteran journalist  has been at the helm of the cooperation for three years following his appointment in 2019.He succeeded Waithaka Waihenya
