Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Raila Odinga's presidential bid has received a major boost after the former United Nations Conference on Trade and Development boss Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi dropped his bid in his favour.
Speaking in Kimilili, Bungoma where he joined Mr. Odinga for the Azimio la Umoja campaigns, Kituyi revealed that he had been in talks with Odinga in the last three weeks.
" I am here to request my people of Kimilili to allow me to join Raila's national campaign team," he said amid cheers from the crowd.
Kituyi who served as Minister of Trade and Industry under Mwai Kibaki's government however said he hasn't entirely shelved the ambition of leading the country in the future noting Odinga's presidency will open way for his candidature.
"I would want to be close to him so that if he (is elected) my path can also be opened."he added.
He served as the Member of Parliament for Tongaren between 1992-2007.
