Lumalah, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MCA, died on Monday morning.
The legislator was in India, where she was receiving treatment.
Confirming the news, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura described Lumalah’s demise as a great loss to the assembly.
“It’s a sad moment and great loss for the Assembly and the County at large,” said Mutura.
“Mellab was part of the house leadership and carried out her duties effectively.”
Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu led the county in mourning the late nominated MCA.
In a statement, Kananu eulogized the late Lumalah as' a no-nonsense personality who fought to be heard.'
" It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I accept the passing on of Hon. Mellab Lumalah, an amazing and cheerful person,"
"Mellab, broke many barriers by becoming a Nominated MCA, and was later appointed as the Nairobi Deputy Minority leader. Her biggest aspiration this year was to vie for an elected seat in this year’s General election. Mellab, was a no-nonsense personality who fought to be heard in instances where she felt she was not heard." Kananu stated.
