Livondo while speaking in Thika Stadium during Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s thanksgiving party on Saturday claimed that an unnamed person had tried to assassinate President Kenyatta twice.
The alleged assassination attempts, according to the former Lang'ata parliamentary aspirant, involved ‘crashing’ aircraft used by the Head of State.
“You have a friend, who attempted to crash your plane twice, will you forgive him? The first attempt was when President Uhuru Kenyatta was leaving Kisumu and the second attempt was when he was going to the US through Dubai,” Livondo said.
In a statement on Monday, the DCI ordered Livondo to appear before its headquarters at 2.00 pm on Monday for questioning.
“With the powers conferred upon me under section 52 (1) of the National Police Service Act No 11A of 2011, I hereby compel you; Hon. Stanley Livondo to appear before me at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation situated along Kiambu Road at Mazingira House today, Monday, the 21″ day of February 2022 at 2.00 PM without fail,” stated Police Supritendent Kuriah Obadiah from the Directorate's In-charge Serious Crime Unit.
The DCI in the statement noted that failure of Livondo to present himself would constitute an offense liable to prosecution.
Moses Kuria has since distanced himself from Livondo’s remarks which he termed as reckless, calling on the DCI to investigate the flamboyant businessman.
“As the convener of the thanksgiving prayer meeting in Thika, I may not be responsible for what speakers said, but it was my meeting, and I have to take responsibility," Kuria tweeted on Sunday.
“I have today requested DCI boss George Kinoti to arrest Stanley Livondo following his reckless statement."
