Kenya has received an additional 1,177,350 doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine from the US goverment .
In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Health said the consignment was through the COVAX facility program.
Kenya has so far received a total of 22,280, 820 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
Similarly, the government is expecting 1 million more doses of Pfizer vaccine from the US which will now raise to 6 million the total number of doses from the Joe Biden-led government.
"Tomorrow morning the government expects another consignment of 1 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine pushing the US donations to over 6 million," Dr. Willis Akhwale, Chair of the National Taskforce on Vaccine Deployment.
A total of 7,893,165 vaccines have been administered across the country as of December 8, 2021.
Of these, 4,776,131 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 3,117,034.
The ministry targets to vaccine at least 10 million people by the end of December.
