Embattled Football Kenya Federation ( FKF) President Nicholas 'Nick' Mwendwa has been released on Ksh.4 million cash bail after spending his weekend in police custody.
Mwendwa appeared before Milimani Magistrate Wandia Nyamu but wasn't charged with the magistrate expected to rule on whether to grant the prosecution request to detain the FKF boss for a further 14 days in order to complete their investigations.
While granting Mwendwa bail, the Magistrate ordered him not to address media or contact FKF employees.
He has also been directed not to access the FKF offices pending a ruling on November 17th.
Mwendwa was arrested on Friday at Golden Tulips hotel in Westlands, Nairobi where he was meeting Harambee Stars players before being driven to the DCI headquarters on Kiambu road where he was interrogated over alleged misappropriation of funds.
His arrest came just a day after his team was kicked out by the Sports CS Amina Mohamed and a caretaker committee led by Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera appointed to spearhead football activities in the country.
At the same time, World football governing body FIFA on Monday warned Amina to reinstate the FKF executive committee members warning of possible sanctions on Kenya.
FIFA Secretary General Fatama Samoura in a letter said "Going forward, without prejudice to the allegations that have raised and any potential trial for offences that may have been committed, Fifa and Caf area asking you to consider the reinstatement of the FKF executive committee members as prior thereto. FIFA and CAF administrations are prepared to work closely with the FKF ad your office representatives - as it has already been the case in the recent past - to normalise the situation."
