A road accident involving a Toyota Noah and two trucks on the Eldoret-Malaba Highway has claimed the life of one person, leaving two others injured.
According to police, the Toyota Noah veered off the road after it was hit by a truck that lost control of its breaks at River Nzoia bridge.
The truck also veered off the road after hitting a sand-transporting truck.
According to Matete Sub-County Commander Thomas Ototo, the truck driver died while the other two drivers and the Turn boy of the sand-transporting were rushed to Webuye County Hospital.
He said, “The truck burst into flames after veering off the road. The truck burst into flames killing the driver on the spot. However, the Noah driver had some injuries on the head.”
The three vehicles were headed towards the same direction, the police said.
An eye witness said, "The trailer was speeding after its breaks failed while approaching the bridge. A motorist heading to Webuye tried to overtake it but hit from behind and veered off the road. "
