Covid-19: Kenya records 33 new cases with a positivity rate of 0.9%

Kenya has recorded 33 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,530 tested, pushing the cumulative confirmed cases to 252,066 while the positivity rate now stands at 0.9%.

From the new cases, 17 are males and 16 females while 28 are Kenyans and 5 are foreigners.

The oldest case is 98 years old while the youngest is a two-month-old infant. 

The Ministry of Health also stated that the total recoveries now stand at 245,347 as 93 new patients have recovered from the disease. 

From the new recoveries, 77 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme while 16 are from various health facilities.

However, one new death was reported, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,224. The death 
was reported after conducting facility record audits in October 2021.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said currently, 587 patients are admitted to various health facilities while 1,531 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme.

Of the 30 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 19 are on ventilatory support and 11 are on supplemental oxygen.

Another 173 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with all of them being in the general wards, the CS noted. 

As of Sunday, 4,520,753 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 3,303,782 while second doses are 1,216,971.
