Kenya has recorded 291 new Covid-19 infections from a sample of 6,501 tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative confirmed positive cases to 249,725.
In a statement to the press, the Ministry of Health said, “From the cases 282 of them are Kenyans while 9 are foreigners and160 are males while 131 are females. The youngest is a five-month-old baby while the oldest is 100 years.”
308 new recoveries have been recorded, bringing the total recoveries to 241,828.
The death toll has however risen to 5,128 as five more people succumbed to the disease. All deaths were discovered after September facility records across the country were audited.
Currently, 963 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,078 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Of the 61 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 39 are on ventilatory support, 21 on supplemental oxygen and one is under observation.
Another 315 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 306 of them in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
The Ministry of Health stated, “208 were from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 100 are from various health facilities countrywide.”
