Guinea junta chief sworn in as transitional President

Guinea coup leader Colonel Mamady Doumbouya has been sworn in as a transitional President.

He took the oath of office in the Capital Conakry on Friday. Doumbouya will become a transitional President serving before the country returns to Civilian rule according to an agreement unveiled by the Junta.

The blueprint however doesn't mention the timelines.

On September 5th, the West African nation saw the 83-year-old President Alpha Conde overthrown.

Conde was Guinea's first democratically elected President. He was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2015. His bid for a third term by sponsoring the amendment of the Constitution led to protests.

Doumbouya 41 becomes  Africa's second-youngest Head of State , the youngest being Col Assimi Goita 38 who led a coup against Mali's President Ibrahim Keita.
