Newcastle has parted ways with its manager Steve Bruce by 'mutual consent the Premier League club said in a statement on Wednesday.
"NUFC can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual consent. The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wishes him well for the future."
Bruce's exit comes barely two weeks after the club was taken over by a Saudi-Arabian-backed consortium.
The 60-year-old had led Newcastle for close to two years in which he led the club to a 13th and 12th place finish in the previous seasons.
During his last game, Newcastle suffered a 3-2 loss against Tottenham Hotspurs.
Graeme Jones will step in as the club interim manager.
Former Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca is one of the front runners for the post left by Steve Bruce.
