Man stabs friend to death over Boda Boda fare disagreement

A man in Kiambu stabbed his friend to death after they got into a heated argument over who should pay for their boda boda ride.

Police said the two friends had taken a ride home in Kikuyu. However, they could not agree on who should pay the boda boda fare. One of them, therefore, rushed home, picked a knife and stabbed his friend.

The boda boda rider witnessed the incident which occurred at 5.30am in Gikambura and he rushed to a nearby police station to report it.

In a short statement on its official Twitter handle, the DCI said, “Police have arrested the murder suspect who stabbed his friend on the neck killing him on the spot, after a short argument over who should pay for their boda boda ride.”

According to the DCI, the suspect is 25-year-old
Daniel Waithera and  21-year-old Michael Mukami was his friend who succumbed to neck injuries.

The suspect was expected in court on Monday morning to answer to murder charges.

The recent rising murder cases have been attributed to stress from the COVID-19 economic challenges due to lack of jobs.
