Kenya receives 880,000 Moderna Vaccine from US government

Kenya has received 880,320 more doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine from the United States government through the Covax facility.

This is the second shipment of the Moderna Vaccine in the country.


The consignment brings to 1.76 million the total number of Moderna Vaccine Kenya has received from the US government.


Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman who was at hand to receive the vaccine which was transported by UNICEF urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers and get vaccinated.

"For us to reopen our economy we need to have achieved herd immunity…government is doing its part to acquire vaccines…Kenyans should avail themselves to be vaccinated,” he said.


The country targets to vaccinate at least 10 million people by December.

On September 4th, the country received its first batch of the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine purchased by the government to bolster vaccination exercise in the country.
