Philippine boxing legend and Presidential hopeful Manny Pacquiao has hanged up his gloves after an illustrious decade-long career in the ring.
The eight-division world champion is who seeking to succeed President Rodrigo Duterte said quitting the sport was " the hardest decision of his life,"
"It is difficult for me to accept that my time for me as a boxer is over," Pacquiao, 42, said in a video message on Twitter that quickly went viral.
"Today I am announcing my retirement."
His retirement comes weeks after he lost his last professional fight against Cuban Yordenis Ugas in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao who ventured into politics in 2010 as a congressman before being elected a Senator last week announced he will contest for the country's top seat.
He was nominated as a Presidential candidate by a faction of the ruling party PDP-Laban
Pacquiao retires with a record of 62 wins, eight defeats and two draws
