Boxer Manny Pacquiao to run for Philipines' President

Philippine boxing star Manny Pacquiao has announced that he will run for President in next year elections.

The World Boxing champion was nominated as a Presidential candidate by a faction of the ruling party PDP-Laban 

"The time is now -- we are ready to rise to the challenge of leadership," said Pacquiao, as he accepted the nomination of a rival faction in President Rodrigo Duterte's ruling party.

Besides his illustrious career as a boxer Mr. Pacquiao is a Senator in the Philippine Parliament.

As a boxer Pacquiao has  won world title in eight different weight divisions.He recently lost to Cuban Yordenis Ugas in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao who joined politics in 2010 as a congressman has also announced plans of retiring from boxing.
