The Sudanese government will hand over Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court along with other officials wanted over the Darfur conflict, the Cabinet of Ministers announced Wednesday.
Bashir who ruled Sudan for close to three decades, before being deposed in 2019 is facing charges of crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide.
"The cabinet has decided to hand over wanted officials to the ICC," Sudan's Foreign Minister Mariam al Mahdi said on Wednesday.
The United Nations says, 300,000 people, lost their lives during the conflict, and 2.5 million other were displaced.
Bashir has been wanted by ICC since 2009, when the Hague-based court issued a warrant of arrest against him.
