Former South African President Jacob Zuma has undergone unspecified surgery and remains in hospital, the Department of Correctional Services(DCS) said on Sunday.
Zuma who is serving 15 months sentence for contempt of court was hospitalized outside Estcourt prison for observation on August 6th.
"Mr Zuma underwent a surgical procedure on Saturday, 14 August 2021, with other procedures scheduled for the coming days,” Prison Spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo said in a statement.
There was no word on the possible date Mr. Zuma will be discharged from the hospital.
Last week, the country's high court postponed his corruption trial to September 9th after his hospitalization.
