Ezekiel Mutua replaced as Kenya Film Classification Board CEO

Ezekiel Mutua has been replaced as the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from Friday, August 6, 2021.

According to An internal memo dated August 6 and addressed to KFCB staff members, Christopher Wambua will be the acting CEO. 

The memo read in part, “Kindly accord him (Wambua) the necessary support.”

On Thursday night, Mutua denied reports that he had been removed as the agency’s boss. His next course of action is however unclear. 

He tweeted, “My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. Please ignore such malicious rumours. I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there's no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB.” 

Dr. Mutua has served in the position for two three-year terms, since 2015.

The acting KFCB CEO Christopher Wambua, served as the Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) since 2015.
