Kenya has recorded 789 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 5,498 tested in the last 24 hours ,pushing the cumulative cases to 220,727 while the positivity rate stands at 14.4 %.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, from the new cases, 758 are Kenyans while 31 are foreigners, and 431 are males while 358 are females.
The oldest case is 98 years old while the youngest is a four-month-old baby.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 1,550 new recoveries have been recorded, pushing cumulative recoveries to 203,922.
From the new recoveries, 1,426 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 124 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Sadly, the cumulative fatalities have been pushed to 4,340 as 21 patients have succumbed to the virus. All are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of June, July, and August 2021.
Currently, a total of 1,971 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 9,672 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
From the 134 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 53 are on ventilatory support, 74 on supplemental oxygen and 7 patients are under observation.
Another 690 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 658 of them in general wards and 32 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
So far, 2,033,277 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, the total first doses are 1,287,010 while the second doses are 746,267.
