Covid-19: Kenya records 363 new cases, 16 fatalities

Kenya has recorded 363 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,594 tested in the last 24 hours , pushing the cumulative cases to 234,952 while the positivity rate stands at 7.9%.

According to the Ministry of Health, from the new cases, 359 are Kenyans while  4 are foreigners and 193 patients being males while 170 are males.

The oldest case is 97 years-old while the youngest is a two-year-old child. 

In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said total recoveries now stand at 220,953 as 1,247 new recoveries were recorded. 

From the new recoveries, 1,114 are from the home-based isolation and care programme while 133 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Unfortunately, 16 patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 4,710. All the 16 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in August 2021.

Currently, a total of 1,967 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,959 are under the home-based isolation and care program.

From the 159 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 116are on ventilatory support, 32 on supplemental oxygen and 11 are under observation.
