President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned veteran journalist Hillary Ng'weno as a distinguished Kenyan who's contribution to the media industry will be cherished for generations to come.
In his message of comfort and encouragement to friends and family of the departed scribe, President Kentatta said Ng'weno was a devoted Patriot who despite having many opportunities to work abroad choose to work in the country enlightening Kenyans on the country's history.
"Hilary Ng’weno is a Kenyan household name because of his immense journalistic achievements as an editor, publisher, broadcaster and documentary filmmaker," the President said"
He further added that Ng'weno had left behind a rich collection of journalistic works
"His documentary videos on Kenyan history have been a source of information on how our country has grown both politically, socially and economically over the decades.
“Indeed, his creative works have continued to inspire generations of Kenyans to work hard and achieve the best for our wonderful nation,” the President said
The Head of State prayed to God to grant the family of Mr Ng'weno fortitude and strength during this difficult moment.
Ng'weno the proprietor and editor-in-chief of the Weekly Review magazine which was popular in the '70s till the 1990's passed away on Wednesday after a long illness.
The 1977 Rockefeller award winner was known for producing documentary films on Kenya's history.
He is survived by a wife Fleur Ng'weno and two children Amolo Ng'weno and Bettina Ng'weno.
