Pope Francis appeared in the public for the first since undergoing intestinal surgery last week, stepping out in the balcony of Rome's Gemelli hospital to lead the Angelus prayer before hundreds of people.
According to the latest statement from the Vatican, the Pope has resumed work, walking, and eating with aides.
The 84-year-old Francis was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital last week and underwent colon diverticulitis surgery.
Diverticulitis is an inflammation caused when people develop pouches in the wall of the colon it's usually symptomless but often causes discomfort and bleeding.
It was the first time Francis has been hospitalized since his election as Pope in 2013.
