Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has been arrested.
Mr. Gachagua was arrested on Friday at his Sagana home in Nyeri by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
"As predicted two dozens of DCI officers raided my Nyeri home and arrested me to face trumped-up charges of money laundering. I am being driven to Nairobi at reckless speed to spend the weekend in the cells," the MP posted on his official social media page
The MP has been under interrogation over the source of Ksh 12.5 billion which flowed through his accounts.
He had in the past been quizzed by the DCI over claims of money laundering.
Gachagua has however termed his arrest as politically instigated.
